Kolkata: Indian skipper Saurav Ganguly on Saturday said that his team has to play well 'collectively' to attain success in the World Cup in South Africa next month. "We have generally played well last year. And we need to perform well collectively in South Africa," Ganguly told reporters at the Eden Gardens here after his first net session following the dismal New Zealand trip. Reiterating that the Kiwi outing, during which India lost the Test series 0-2 and the One-day fixtures 2-5, would have no adverse impact on India's performance in the World Cup, the Indian skipper said, "That series is best forgotten. We have to start afresh." Asked about the reasons for India's poor show against the black caps, Ganguly said, "A team always goes through highs and lows." On the drought of runs from his blade, the Indian skipper said, "None of us played well. We all have to play better." Ganguly described as 'enough' the two week's time the Indian team would get in South Africa to acclimatise before the World Cup campaign. The dashing southpaw said he was yet to discuss India's strategy for the World Cup with his team mates. "I haven't spoken to them since returning from New Zealand. They are all resting now. We will have some sort of a camp in South Africa and formulate our strategy there," he said. Ganguly had almost an hour's practice session at the heavily guarded Eden, where a security ring was also thrown by commandos and plainclothesmen after threats to his life from the Laskar-e-Taiba. Ganguly straightaway headed to the nets in his bid to regain his lost touch with the willow, and faced deliveries from junior state-level players of Bengal. Extras:
