Nairobi: Kenyan Vice-President Michael Kijana Wamalwa has urged New Zealand to reconsider its decision not to play their upcoming World Cup match in Kenya, saying its absence would be interpreted as victory by the terrorists. "I am urging them to reconsider, because the act of not coming would be interpreted as victory by the terrorists," Wamalwa said in an appeal on the Independent Nation TV network. New Zealand cited possible "terrorist attacks" and the potential lack of security for players when it announced on Friday its decision not to play its February 21 match in Kenya. Wamalwa's call was the latest in a series of appeals by other government and Kenya Cricket Association (KCA) officials, inviting the Kiwis to honour their Kenyan fixture, while dismissing their fears as "misconceived". "Concerns about insecurity are misconceived ... New Zealand has no valid reasons for the matches to be taken away ... every country can start acting the same way as New Zealand. I still hope it will change its decision," KCA Chairman Jimmy Rayani reiterated on Saturday.
