Kolkata: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday threatened International Cricket Council (ICC) of dragging before arbitration and claiming damages for its "wrongful" rejection of Sahara as the Indian cricket team sponsor. The Board president Jagmohan Dalmiya said here that the "wrongful rejection of Sahara as Indian team sponsor would be agitated by BCCI before arbitration at a later date and appropriate damages would be claimed". Dalmiya's comments came following ICC refusal to accept Sahara logo on the Indian players' dress during the World Cup in South Africa following which the sponsor has to change the logo to 'Amby Valley'. The Board president said that ICC Development International Limited, the business arm of ICC, has conveyed its approval of 'Amby Valley' as the Indian team sponsor for the World Cup beginning on February 8. ICC had first raised objection on Sahara logo during the Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka last September following which the Lucknow based company had decided to withdraw from the sponsorship agreement. But subsequently Sahara decided to continue with the sponsorship agreement with the Indian Board. Indian Board has already moved before the Court of Arbitration in Lausanne (Switzerland) against ICC in connection with the dispute over the players contract issue.
