Johannesburg: The Australian bowlers would go all out to exploit the discomfort of Indian batsmen, particularly skipper Saurav Ganguly, against the short-pitched delivery in Sunday's World Cup final."If it's a quick and bouncy wicket then we'll try to make the most of those conditions and that will probably mean a fair bit of short stuff and a fair bit of quick stuff as much as we can to certain players," Australian skipper Ricky Ponting was quoted as saying by 'Fox Sports'."Some of them cope with it okay, but others don't cope with it that well," he said and named Ganguly as the batsman particularly vulnerable to the rising delivery."With the fast bowlers he has always had a few problems," Ponting said about Ganguly. "Sheer pace got him out against us, Binga got him out, and Shane Bond unsettled him a bit in the other game (against New Zealand)."Though Ganguly has scored three centuries in this competition, amassing 441 runs which his next only to Sachin Tendulkar's 669, Ponting believes Ganguly remains suspect to the short-pitched balls.But Ganguly dismissed suggestions he and the likes of Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag would struggle against Australia's speed battery. "We scored runs against Pakistan, who have as good an attack as Australia," Ganguly said."We handle them well. At the end of the day in order to get wickets you have to pitch the balls up. We have played well against other teams who have good fast bowlers." PTI
