Indians worried by persistent rain at Pietermaritzburg
Pietermaritzburg: Furrowed creases were back on the faces of the Indian cricketers within 24 hours of winning an important World Cup game against Zimbabwe as they arrived in this scenic suburb of Durban on Thursday. It hasn't stopped raining since Thursday morning here, a place which has a very strong Indian connection and a background with a profound influence on the sub- continent's history. Pietermaritzburg was the place where Mahatma Gandhi started his journey of peace and non-violence after he was thrown out of a train compartment because of his colour during the apartheid years of early 20th century. India is to meet Namibia in its fourth Group 'A' game here on Sunday and can ill- afford situation where it would be forced to split points with the minnows. India has won two of its three games and is looking forward to crushing Namibia to improve its prospects of progressing to the Super Six, but the persistent rain must be a source of worry for skipper Saurav Ganguly. Durban and its surrounding areas reeled under a heat wave in recent times but the rains have come at the wrong time for the Indians. Worryingly, the prospects of the rains letting up in the next 48 hours are not bright either. Extras:
