Indian players should be passionate about game: Kapil
Mangalore: Former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev said the members of the Indian cricket team should show their passion towards the game or otherwise they will lose matches. Kapil Dev, who was in Mangalore to launch the Kinetic "BOSS" motorcycle, told reporters on Wednesday he was "surprised" at the way in which the Indian team was batting in the ongoing World Cup matches in South Africa. "The team should show passion, otherwise you will lose the matches," he said. However, while healthy criticism is "safe, burning of effigies by people is not good", he said. Expressing his hope about the team, Kapil said he was expecting the players to put in "their cent per cent effort and win the forthcoming matches". While Australia has chances of winning the cup, the "Indian team is not good enough to win it", the former all-rounder said. To a query on Saurav Ganguly's batting, Kapil said the former had 19 centuries to his credit in One-day Internationals and "am very much surprised why Ganguly is not clicking in South Africa". Responding to another question on players placing commercial interest over passion, he said "that kind of players should be kicked out". Extras:
