We obviously did a lot better today, says Indian skipper
Harare: The smiles were back on the faces of Indian cricketers after their emphatic win against Zimbabwe in a World Cup league match on Wednesday with captain Saurav Ganguly saying the victory was an important step towards the team's qualification for the Super Six. "It was a very important game for us today. Obviously, there is pressure in any international game but we played really well today," Ganguly said after India defeated Zimbabwe by 83 runs for its second win in three matches. "We have two big games coming up against England and Pakistan. Our first aim is to qualify for the super six stage with some win points," he said. Ganguly was pleased with the application shown by his batsmen on Wednesday but said there were a few areas which needed improvement. "We obviously did a lot better today. We got off to an excellent start but lost a bit in the middle. Though Rahul Dravid and Mohammad Kaif did quite well towards the end, I feel, we stopped about 15-20 runs short," he said. "However, we bowled and fielded very well to make up for the loss." Ganguly said the angry reaction of fans back in the country after the team's dismal performances in the first two matches was probably exaggerated. Extras:
