Gulbarga: Apparently prompted by the attack on cricketer Mohammed Kaif's house by angry fans in Allahabad, police have decided to provide security to the residences of vice-captain Rahul Dravid, Srinath and Anil Kumble. Speaking to reporters, Home Minister Mallikarjun Kharge said government had decided to provide "suitable security" to the houses of the three players in Bangalore. He however added that it was only a "precautionary measure". Angered over the dismal performance of the Indian team in its match against Australia in the World Cup, dejected fans had attacked the house of Kaif and in Kolkata taken out a mock funeral procession of the Indian cricket team. A top police in Bangalore said the police did not apprehend "any such problem (of attack)".
