PIL filed against Ganguly, Dalmiya for 'poor cricket'
Bhavnagar: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in a district court, praying for directing Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and team captain to 'adhere to certain guidelines' for performing well in the remaining matches in the World Cup in South Africa. Admitting the petition on Tuesday, the civil judge of the district court fixed February 24 as the next date and directed its representatives to appear before the court. A PIL was filed by three persons in the court of chief judicial magistrate against Indian captain Saurav Ganguly, BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya and secretary of Union ministry for sports for the team's 'poor performance' in the two matches at the ongoing World Cup. The petition, filed by Prashant Avantilal Oza, Jatin Shukla and Idrish Ahmed Qureshi, termed the team's recent performances in South Africa as an insult to country's prestige. Extras:
