Shed the Kiwi blues, pulverise minnow Holland: Wright

Paarl (South Africa): India would look to pulverise minnows Holland and post a comprehensive victory to shed off New Zealand blues, Indian coach John Wright said on Tuesday while exhorting his wards to show 'ruthlessness' in its opening World Cup match on Tuesday.

"We need ruthlessness to go out and get the job done," said Wright ahead of the match. "An ideal game would be to win the toss and score big and if we are bowling first then to contain them to an insignificant total." India has never played Holland but both Wright and captain Saurav Ganguly emphasised they would take the game with all the seriousness just like playing a top team. "We need to be very focused on this game," said Ganguly. "They are new to international cricket and don't get many opportunities but they are here and are a competitor." "We would prepare against them as much as we would against any international side." If anything, Wright said, the defeat against Kwazulu Natal in India's second and last practice game had underlined the need to take every team seriously in this competition. "I think that the practice game was one of the best things which could have happened," said Wright. "It makes us realise we have to be at our best be it against Holland or Australia." Extras:
