ICC to react to ECB safety concern after getting report
London: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has said that it would respond to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) regarding its players' security concerns after receiving an assessment from the South African authorities on Monday. "The new information, which the ICC received relating to security concerns from the ECB on Sunday evening has been provided to national deputy commissioner of police Andre Pruis, South Africa's second most senior police officer. He would give an assessment to the ICC by noon today," ICC chief executive Malcom Speed here said. That will be passed to the ECB, for them to assess what further action they may wish to take on this issue, Speed added. ECB chief executive Tim Lamb said on Sunday that an announcement with regard to whether the England team would travel to Harare to fulfil the fixture on February 13, has been delayed until the new information that has come to light has been formally communicated to the ICC and its response has been received.
