Islamabad: Fearing public wrath following their disastrous performance in the World Cup, Pakistani players are coming home in batches amidst heavy security.Three members of the team, Saeed Anwar, Shahid Afridi and Rashid Latif, arrived at the Karachi International Airport last evening. They were received by their relatives and immediately whisked away to their homes.There was heavy security at the airport at the time of the players' arrival and few people had information about their travel plans, state run news agency APP reported. Other players were expected to arrive later in small batches, it said. The Pakistani players faced severe criticism from fans at home after they failed to reach the Super Six stage. They lost to arch-rivals India, Australia and England. They only managed wins against minnows Holland and Namibia while their last match against Zimbabwe was washed out.The team issued an unprecedented statement after bowing out saying they were "ashamed" and "heart-broken" about their dismal performance. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has constituted a three member inquiry commission to determine the cause of the debacle. PTI
