Bridgetown holds an amazing record for West Indies
India will take on West Indies in the third Test at Bridgetown from May 2. Having won the second Test at Port of Spain, India will be eager to keep up the winning tempo. However going by records, it would be seen that this venue has proved to be one of the luckiest for West Indies which has lost only thrice (one vs Australia and twice vs England ) out of 37 Tests played here and won 19 of them. Its record particularly against India is quite amazing having won six of the seven Tests played and drawing one. As it has not lost at this venue against India it would look forward to force a victory and level the series half way. It would face India with a mind to win but as it is aware that any set back in this Test would prove to be disastrous since it has already lost a Test at Port of Spain. India had actually come across a golden opportunity in its last tour in 1996-97 when it could have erased the memory of all previous losses at this venue and could have recorded its first win. But chasing a modest fourth innings target of 120, it collapsed like a pack of cards for a meagre 81 and lost the Test by 38 runs. As such it would be eager to avenge its defeat as well as forge ahead to take a two zero lead in the series. It too knows that any under estimation of the opponents - currently publicised as one of the weakest teams performance-wise, may cause upsets.
