Guwahati: The New Zealand team arrived here on Friday to play the tri-series One-day International against Australia on Sunday at the Nehru Stadium here. The team led by Captain Steven Fleming flew in from Kolkata by an Indian Airlines plane and was immediately whisked away amidst tight security in a special bus to a city hotel. The Kiwis were received in a traditional manner by the Assam Cricket Association officials at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport here where fans lined up to get a glimpse of the Black Caps. Meanwhile, heavy security arrangements have been put in place by the Assam police as per the guidelines of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the November 9 One-dayer with the two hotels where the teams would stay, the stadium and the two-km stretch leading to the Nehru stadium sanitised. The spectators would not be allowed to take any kind of sharp weapons and only plastic containers for food and water would be allowed. The mediamen had also been barred from taking their mobile telephones inside the stadium as all facilities for transmitting news would be provided from the stadium complex.
