Kolkata: The Indian cricketers have refused to accept the 30-day clause thus deepening the ongoing crisis and forcing the Indian Board to postpone the selection committee meeting by a few hours on Monday. The response from the Indian players now touring England has reached the Board and they have refused to accept the controversial clause, Board sources here confirmed. When contacted, the Board president Jagmohan Dalmiya refused to comment anything on the issue at this stage but said, "We are postponing the selection committee meeting by a few hours as the International Cricket Council (ICC) has asked for some more time. Dalmiya said that the national selectors would meet only after 18.00 hours (IST) in the evening as against at 14.00 hours (IST) as originally scheduled. The BCCI, following its working committee meeting in New Delhi on Saturday, has asked the players to sign the 30-day clause while rejecting the 17-day period agreed during discussions between the Indian cricketers and the ICC in London. The Board had set a deadline of 14.00 hours (IST) on Monday for the players to respond and has summoned the selection committee meeting to choose the, "best available" team from the players who "accept the offer and sign the players' terms". The players' refusal means that unless there is some last minute compromise on either side, the national selectors would have to pick up a second string Indian squad from the 25 probables already selected earlier for the Champions Trophy beginning in Sri Lanka on Thursday.
