Kolkata: Ignoring the top cricketers, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selection committee will choose the team for Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka from among the 24 probables, who have signed the agreement on advertisement, Board president Jagmohan Dalmiya said on Monday minutes before the selector's meeting started. In a brief statement before the meeting began, Dalmiya said "as far as the BCCI is concerned, the issue (row over advertising agreement) is closed. That is why we are going ahead with the selection committee meeting".He said the ICC had told the Board that it was convening a worldwide tele-conference at 17:30 hours IST today, 13:00 hours London time, and asked the Board not to announce its decision till the outcome of the tele-conference. "The Indian selection committee will, however, start deliberations to select the team for the Colombo tournament from the 24 probables who have signed the contract. "But the team will not be announced till the outcome of the ICC conference," Dalmiya said. About players raising the issue of "principles and integrity" for not signing the agreement, he said he failed to understand their stand. "I do not know. That must be a good reason. However, like others, I will not ask them to choose between money and country. Because this tournament is being played for money and money is important," he said sarcastically. Dalmiya said the Board could not delay the announcement any further as India was legally and morally bound to play in Colombo.
