Chennai: Nine persons had been taken into custody by the city police from various parts of Chennai city on Monday for 'gambling' for the ICC cricket match final between India and Sri Lanka, being played in Colombo on Monday.
Joint Commissioner of Police, Sylendra Babu, said that police had booked those arrested under the Indian Gambling Act. Laptop computers, cell phones besides cash, worth lakhs of rupees, had been seized from the arrested persons. They would be let off after recovering 'penalty' from them. The arrested included four entrepreneurs, the Joint Commissioner said. Extras:
