Vajpayee pats Indian team on its splendid victory

New Delhi: Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on Sunday congratulated the Indian team on its splendid victory in the final of the NatWest tri-series at Lord's on Saturday.

In a message, Vajpayee said that the game on Saturday night epitomised grit, determination and teamwork that are gradually becoming the special characteristics of the national team. "The resilient spirit of India was evident in the way Saurav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif essayed a spectacular comeback. They literally snatched the game from the jaws of defeat and won us the trophy. "These youngsters have proved that persistence coupled with a firm belief in themselves can bring the country laurel and no target is difficult to achieve." Extras:
