Sachin's jinxed relationship with Lord's continues

London: Sachin Tendulkar's jinxed relationship with the Lord's cricket ground continued on Saturday when the master batsman was dismissed for 16 on the third day of the first Test against England.

The highly scratchy innings, during which Tendulkar was ill at ease against the English pacemen, was only in keeping with his eminently forgettable record at this historic ground, considered to be the Mecca of cricket. This was the third Test Tendulkar was playing at this ground. In previous two Tests in 1990 and 1996, he scored 10, 27 and 31 in three innings for an aggregate of 68. He has fared no better in the two One-day Internationals, both in the just concluded NatWest Trophy triangular series, that he has played at this ground. Tendulkar scored just one run in the league match against England and managed only 14 in the historic final against the same opposition. Interestingly, Tendulkar had scored a scintillating hundred at Lord's when he turned up for the Rest of the World against MCC XI in a Princess of Wales Memorial match in 1998. He had smashed 125 off just 114 balls with 15 fours and four sixes to lead his side to a six-wicket win and earned the man of the match award. Extras:
