Kaif, Mongia stay in England, not to play Tests

Kolkata: The national selectors on Tuesday decided to retain both Mohammed Kaif and Dinesh Mongia with the Indian contingent now in England only for the first class matches and kept the already announced Test squad unchanged.

An emergent meeting of the national selectors, which took place here to take stock of the situation following India's sensational win at the NatWest trophy final took this decision to keep the entire One-day squad amidst active cricket in view of the ICC Champions Trophy in September, Jagmohan Dalmiya president of BCCI said. Yuvraj Singh, however, will return to India following a finger injury, which would keep him out of action for three weeks. Kaif and Mongia, however, will not play in the Test matches. They are expected to play only in the county games. The move appears to have been taken by the BCCI with a view to building a strong team spirit for the World Cup. Extras:
