Northampton: Northamptonshire made it two out of two in this year's Twenty20 Cup by virtue of beating Warwickshire by 38 runs in the rain-shortened match at Northampton.

In a match reduced to 14 overs per side, the hosts raked up an imposing 143 for five after taking first use of the wicket at Wantage Road.

Skipper David Sales lead from the front with a blistering 36 off 21 balls that was laced with six fours and a six. B Philips and B Shafayat contributed 31 apiece.

In reply Warwickshire never really got going despite a fluent 29 from Ian Bell before ending up at a dismal 105 for nine.

Damien Wright started the rout with his first ball dismissal off Neil Carter before B Phillips mopped up the tail.
