Ind-Aus 7th ODI called off due to rain
Mumbai: The organisers of the Hero Honda Cup were forced to call off the final match of the tournament between India and Australia after heavy rains lashed Mumbai on Wednesday.
Owing to the rains, the prize distribution ceremony has been shifted to the hotel where the two teams are staying.
Match delayed due to rain
The seventh and final One Day International between India and Australia was delayed due to persistent rains in Mumbai on D Y Patil stadium. The stadium has already turned into a water pool and it is least likely that the match would be underway here.
With heavy rains showing no signs of relenting, the match is unlikely to go ahead.
Umpires will visit the ground at 5 p.m. IST, which is the cut-off time. Both the teams have been instructed to stay inside the hotel.
7th ODI likely to be called off
Mumbai: Incessant rain is threatening to play spoilsport in India's final match against Australia in the Hero Honda cup in Mumbai on Wednesday.
Heavy rains lashed the city last night and it's drizzling since morning in Mumbai, making the chances dim for the India to get a consolation win in the final ODI.
The Indian Meteorological Department and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had issued cyclone alerts for the city on Wednesday.
The final match between the India and Australia will only have academic interest as Australia have already won the series by 4-2 margin.
All eyes were on Sachin Tendulkar, who is set to reach another milestone in his cricket career. Tendulkar is just 49 runs short to complete 30,000 international runs.
There are two more matches scheduled to be held in the city - the touring Sri Lankans take on the Board President's XI and Mumbai play Orissa in a Ranji Trophy Super League Group A tie. All three games may be cancelled.
