Services tenders apology to BCCI

BCCI
New Delhi: The Services team tendered apology to BCCI for pulling out from the Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir in Srinagar. Services also assured BCCI to play the game on a fresh date.

"Services is now ready to play in Srinagar. Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) has apologised to the BCCI for the administrative slip-up in dispatch of its team and requested them for fresh dates,” a top SSCB official said.

However, Indian cricket board struck to its decision to ban services from this year’s Ranji Trophy cricket season.

Services refused to play the Plate Division match at the Sher-E-Kashmir stadium on Tuesday, hosting a Ranji game after a gap of five years, and the BCCI immediately banned SSCB from playing in this year's Ranji Trophy.

Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association president Farooq Abdullah was not satisfied with the apology from services.

"An apology is not enough. They have insulted Kashmir and we want BCCI to punish Services cricket team," said Adullah, an Union Minister and former Chief Minister of the state.

"Services made a heavy damage to the whole sporting fraternity and to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Now let them pay the price of it," he added.
