Etawah: Former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin on Wednesday urged senior players in the team to bat up the order to yield maximum benefits.
"The present Indian squad is balanced but it needs some changes in the batting order," said Azharuddin, who was here to campaign for Bharthana and Etawah assembly by-elections.
"If the senior cricketers are promoted in the batting order, it would yield better results", he added.
Blaming the selectors, Azhar said if the five wise men of Indian cricket did their job with full sincerity, they could do proper justice to the rising talents of the country.
The former captain, however, expressed reservations over Sachin Tendulkar's suggestion that umpires should be left to adjudge leg-before decisions while technology would care of the rest of the decisions.
He also came in support of India discard Mohammad Kaif, saying the selectors have been continuously ignoring the right-hander.
