Edgbaston:
Ricky Ponting has become Australia's leading run-scorer in Test Cricket when he moved to 25 in the third Ashes Test at Edgbaston.
Ponting surged past Allan Border's long-standing Australian record of 11,174 Test runs.
Now Ponting is third only to Sachin Tendulkar and Brial Lara. He will now chase India's master blaster Sachin Tendulkar (12,773) for the overall Test record.
Australian cricket legend Border kept his test record intact for 22 years. Ponting can keep it for even longer, considering the clouded future of Test cricket.
Ponting 12th man in all-time Australian XI
Ponting averages 56.39, above Border (50.56) in Test cricket.
Tendulkar and Brian Lara, the only two men ahead of the 34-year-old on the run-scoring list, boast 54.48 and 52.88 respectively.
