Indian team starts training for WI series

Kingston: India will look to regain their lost pride in cricket world when they take on West Indies in the four-match one-day series.



Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his men had light training and net sessions here under the watchful eyes of coach Gary Kirsten.

India will play their first two ODIs on Friday and Sunday respectively at Sabina Park here.

Meanwhile, five members of the West Indies squad including captain Chris Gayle, returned here following their semi-final defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka in the Twenty20 World Cup in England.

Gayle said he is looking forward to a "good series" against India whom the West Indies beat in the Super Eight stages of the just-concluded Twenty20 World Cup.

"India is always a good one-day team and it`s always going to be difficult going up against India but it should be a good ODI series," he said.

"We`re both evenly matched we`re (both) starting form scratch so we`ll see what happens," he added.
