Dilshan propels Delhi to a fighting total

Centurion: In an amazing display of counter attack by Delhi captain Virender Sehwag and Dilshan helped Delhi Daredevils to post 153/8 in the first semi finals of IPL at Centurion on Friday.

Send into bat first, Delhi were off to shocking start as they lost 0/2 in the first over, in an amazing display of counter-attacking cricket, Sehwag and Dilshan had taken the Deccan bowlers to the cleaners racing past fifty in no time.

Sehwag celebrated his comeback to form with a flurry of boundaries and Dilshan at the other end was not far behind in matching him shot by shot. ‘Strategic time-out’ yet again turned to be a curse for Delhi. In the 11th over, Delhi skipper Virender Sehwag essay at the crease, which was beginning to take threatening proportions, was cut short by Andrew Symonds for 39 runs. Sehwag lasted 31 balls and hit 5 fours, stitching a valuable 85 run partnership with Tilakaratne Dilshan to lead Delhi’s revival in the process.

Once Sehwag was out, Gilly and his men pulled things back but then Dilshan stayed there almost till the end to give Delhi the right direction.
