Delhi Daredevils beat Mumbai Indians by 4 wickets

Sehwag
Centurion: A warning to all semi finalists in IPL 2. Devil Sehwag is back to his form with a bang over Mumbai Indians.

Sehwag slammed a cavalier half-century off just 26 balls to help his team Delhi Daredevils beat Mumbai Indians by 4 wickets.

Delhi captain also stitched a match winning 68 run stand with Gautam Gambhir that helped Delhi build a solid foundation for the rest of the batsmen to complete the formalities. Mumbai spinner Harbhajan Singh threatened Delhi with his spell of 4/17, but it was not enough to take away the game from Devils.

Earlier batting first, Mumbai Indians scored 165/8 in 20 overs.

Scorecard

Mumbai were off to a horrendous start as they lost Sanath Jayasurya in the first legal delivery of the match. Nannes struck again in his next over having Jean Paul Duminy (9) caught behind by Dinesh Karthik. Pradeep Sangwan then struck in his first over when Mohammad Ashraful (2) edged an outswinger to keeper Karthik. Mumbai Indians lost three wickets with just 28 runs on the board.

Sachin Tendulkar and new batsman Rahane first tried to resurrect Mumbai innings slowly. But once Sachin got out he flourished, Rahane started attacking shots all around the wickets. It’s due to his blistering knock that Mumbai, looking down the barrel at one stage, could able to cross 150-mark. His 40-ball 56 contained 5 fours and two huge sixes.

In reply Delhi openers , Gambhir and David Warner (15) got the Daredevils' chase off to a brisk start, the two smashing 30 from the first three overs.

Delhi lost David Warner when he miscued a hit high up in the air for Mohammad Ashraful to take a well-judged catch at mid-off. Warner hit a six and a four in his 15-run knock that came off 9 balls. But, Sehwag continued from where Warner left off, as he and Gambhir flayed the bowling.

Harbhajan pulled things back with a good first over in which he conceded just three, but Sehwag and Gambhir reduced the deficit to just 73 from the last 10 overs.
