Century against Australia is special: Gambhir
Mohali:  Describing his century against Australia as special, opening batsman Gautam Ghambir today said ''though it took me lot of time for this century, it was worth the wait.'' ''This was my second century having scored the first against Bangladesh (in 2004) but to get it against team like Australia and that too at home makes is special,'' he elobrated.

Talking to mediapersons after the day's play, Gambhir said ''lot of people keep saying that I should convert the good start into century. I have been getting 60 or 70 runs but it happened today that I was able to get the desired result.'' He said he always wanted to do well in the Tests, ''I think every cricket player will like to do well in the test. Yes I have done well in the 50 overs and Twenty-20 games but I wanted to make use of the good starts which I have been getting in the Test.'' Gambhir was happy that he and Sehwag have been giving a good start.

''We play lot of cricket together. We share good chemistry.

We have good relationship on and off the field. I think good understanding between two people helps and that is exactly what is happening.'' About this Test, the opener said ''We were aggressive from the very first day. The first session of the match was very crucial and we gave our side a good start (70 run partnership) and that put the Australian on the back foot.'' He lavished praise on the bowlers, saying ''Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma and Harbhajan Singh have put us in this game and tomorrow when we win the match lot of credit will go to them.'' He said ''the team's game plan was simple 'Go out and win'.Cricket Gallery

Over 500 target is very hard to chase and we knew it and then Harbhajan and Ishant proved that.'' Asked how he felt when Sehwag failed to score hundred falling short by ten runs, Gambhir said ''It is all a part of the game, not every body scores a hundred every time, but more than a 100 the final result matters, If we win that will be great.

Every player wants his team to win.'' ''It is good feeling to dominate the match against team like Australia,'' he added.
