Bangalore: Australia declared their innings at 228 runs, thereby setting India a target of 299 runs from the last days play. India had sent openers Gautam Gambhir and Sehwag with a strategy of going for the kill to go one up in the series. The visitors on the other hand, looked to take early wickets to bolster their chances.
Earlier in the morning, Ishant Sharma sent tremors down the Australian camp in his initial spell of the day as he clean bowled Shane Watson with a swift, angling delivery that rattled the leg stump.
Scorecard Things had started with a bang on the final day of the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as Brad Haddin gave the charge to skipper Anil Kumble as soon as he came on to bowl. He fired one directly back at the bowler and he was unable to complete a caught and bowled chance.
