London: Former England captain Michael Vaughan has rubbished fears that his presence in the England team could have a negative effect on Kevin Pietersen's captaincy.

Vaughan also made it clear that he have no problem taking backseat while Pietersen goes about his business.

It's not the first time that Vaughan is in the spotlight regarding his presence as a non-playing captain. It was thought his presence during the 2007 Ashes whitewash in Australia had an unnerving impact on stand-in captain Andrew Flintoff.

Vaughan, though, is confident Pietersen won't have a problem with him in the side.

"There would be absolutely not problem. I would not get in KP's way or in his hair at all," he told the Sunday Mirror.

"Perhaps some people might feel it would be difficult to have the ex-captain around but I don't. And I'm sure KP wouldn't either.

"When I took over from Nasser Hussain he was still in the team and it was a little strange having him standing in the field watching what I was doing. But it really wasn't a problem.

"He was fine. He told me to get on with it and not worry about him being there. He was willing to offer help or advice if I needed it.

"That's the way it should be and I would be the same with KP.

"So far he has done a fantastic job and got some good results. It has gone so well for him and I'm delighted.
