England eves prove too much for woeful India
The 17-year-old England opener Sarah Taylor became youngest to reach 1000 ODI-run mark en route to her strokeful 77-ball 75*.London: India's batswomen, apart from skipper Mithali Raj, cut a sorry picture, yet again, as England eves coasted to a convincing 10-wicket victory in the second one-dayer at Taunton on Monday.

New-ball bowler Katherine Brunt (3/14) and left-arm spinner Holly Colvin (4/20) shared seven wickets with a probing and tidy spells as India eves collapsed to a measly 102 in 45.1 overs. Mithali stood tall in her side's batting ruins with a stubborn 100-ball 53 including four boundaries. Amita Rawat (11) was the only other Indian batswoman to reach double figure.

Rest of the batswomen, especially top-order, it appeared, have no stomach to fight. They struggled against the new-ball attack and found it hard to negotiate the left-arm spin of Colvin.

England eves, in reply, chased down the meagre target in 24.3 overs with all the wickets intact. Sarah Taylor remained undefeated on strokeful 77-ball 75 inclusive of seven hits to fence and one over it.

Taylor in the process became the youngest women's cricketer to reach 1000 ODI runs. The 17-year-old right handed batswoman, who plays for Rubies in domestic cricket, reached this landmark in 34 matches and has two centuries and five half-centuries under her belts. Her opening partner Caroline Atkins scored a patient 23* off 70 balls.

England, who lead the five-match series 2-0, will play India in the their third ODI at the same venue on Thursday.

Brief Scores:

India eves 102 all out in 45.1 overs (Mithali Raj 53 n o, Amita Rawat 11; Holly Colvin 4/20, Kate Brunt 3/14, Isa Guha 1/12) lost to England 103/0 in 24.3 overs (Sarah Taylor 75 n o, Caroline Atkins 24 n o).
