Karachi:Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to send fast bowler Shabbir Ahmed to Australia in an effort to rectify his bowling action.

It may be recalled that Shabbir, was suspended for an indefinite period after an International Cricket Council (ICC) report stated that his arm straightened by up to 27 degrees.

The ICC's ruling means that Shabbir will not be allowed to play against England in October unless his action is cleared.

According to a report in the leading Pakistani daily The News, Saleem Altaf, the PCB director of cricket operations, said that the Board has asked Darryl Foster, the biomechanics expert from the Australian Cricket Academy, and Bruce Elliott, the expert from the University of Western Australia, to assist in the case. Altaf further added that the Board has asked for a report on Shabbir's action from the experts in Perth, after which the report would be sent to the ICC for further action.

Ahmed was first reported in a tri-series competition in Canada in 1998, but was cleared after undergoing some corrective measures by former West Indian bowler Michael Holding.

His action went under the scanner for a second time when he was reported during Pakistan's Test series in New Zealand last year.

The 29-year-old was reported for a third time in the West Indies in May this year.
