A brilliant unbeaten knock by Ravikant Shukla (96) helped India to score a seven-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the first semi-final match held at the KSCA grounds. Sri Lanka, electing to bat, were all out for 193 in 41.1 overs. A Mathews (56) and S Parthina (74) were the top scorers for the island nation with a strong fifth wicket partnership of 133 runs. India's Umesh Karui (4-24), and Shabaaz Nadeem (3-45) were the prime wicket takers. India reached home in 37.4 overs with opener Uday Kaul (43) and A G Pradep (35) chipping in crucial runs. Pakistan beat Bangladesh in a similar fashion by seven wickets in the second semi-final encounter at the IAF grounds. Bangladesh, who elected to bat, were all out for 152 runs in 44 overs, with Ishraq Sonnet (42) and Mazharuddin (33) being the prime scorers. Pakistan Nawaz Sardar got three wickets for 15 runs. A good knock by Adnan Raza (60) and Yasir Arafat (28) helped Pakistan finish the innings in 31.5 overs. Nazmul Hussain (1-22) and Mohammad Shorawardi (1-21) were the wicket takers for Bangladesh. | ||||||||||
