Bangalore: Eyesight and vision is very important for a sportsperson, said the Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who is here for the India-Australia triseries match, scheduled for Nov 12.

"Each fraction (of vision) is important for a sportsman as everything happens in a fraction in a sport" he told reporters inaugurating the second Dr Aggarwal Eye Hospital here. The cricket icon had a word of praise for the hi-tech state-of-the art facilities being offered by the hospital "under one roof" and said it would not only benefit sportspersons but also the general public for "whom vision is equally important to carry on with their day to day activities". As a symbolic gesture Sachin along with his wife, Dr Anjali who is a pediatrician, placed their hands on a mortar plate and later signed on it. "The stone slab with their (couple's) signatures will be a part of the wall of the hospital", Dr Sunita Aggarwal, medical director of the hospital said. Tendulkar also presented a memento to Dhanvir Yadav, the boy form Bihar whose eyes had been gouged out and has been treated by the hospital with a prosthetic implant. As a tribute to Tendulkar, the hospital announced that it would treat 100 poor patients every year. City Police Commissioner S Mariswamy was also present on the occasion.
