Mumbai: Maharashtra government has suggested some alternate sites to batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar as the plot sought by him in suburban Bandra for constructing a bungalow is reserved for the "dishoused" (those who have lost homes due to the government projects). "Yes, Sachin had requested that reservation on the plot in Bandra be lifted. But since the plot is reserved for dishoused, I have suggested some alternate sites to him", Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde told reporters here on Wednesday. The Chief Minister said, "Sachin is pride of the country and we do not want him to face any public interest litigation." The piece of land, in which Sachin has evinced interest, is in suburban Bandra and also falls in the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ), official sources said. "Even if the government removes the reservation on the plot in question, then somebody might file a PIL as a cricketing superstar is involved in it," the sources added. Tendulkar had made the request to the Chief Minister at a meeting held recently to discuss the allocation of more land to Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for a stadium in Bandra-Kurla, sources added.
