Adelaide: All-rounder Ian Harvey snatched eight wickets for Australia 'A' with the bowling performance of his life, but had little support as South Africa 'A' gained the ascendancy on the second day of a three-day match at Adelaide Oval on Monday. At stumps, when bad light stopped play, Australia 'A' was 1-26 in its second innings, with Mike Hussey on two and Simon Katich on 13, still needing another 98 runs to make the South Africans bat again. South Africa 'A' was dismissed for 387 in its first innings, with Martin van Jaarsveld top-scoring with an impressive 110, to take a 124-run first innings lead Australia 'A' made 263 in its first innings. Harvey, a snappy medium-pacer, grabbed a career-best 8-101, bettering the 7-44 he took for Victoria against South Australia in an inter-state clash in Melbourne six seasons ago. His ability to vary his pace and extract movement off the seam troubled all batsmen, as he regularly beat the outside edge or struck the pads. But, with pace pair Ashley Noffke and Brad Williams, as well as leg spinner Stuart MacGill with the Australian senior side in the West Indies, and speedster Nathan Bracken out injured, the rest of the Australia 'A' attack looked thin. The only other wicket-taker for Victoria paceman Shane Harwood spent most of the day out of action with a groin strain, while the side's only other paceman, Stuart Clark, lacked penetration, taking 0-111 from 29 costly overs.
