No positive doping tests at World Cup: ICC
London: Doping controls at a World Cup produced no positive tests, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Wednesday. Australian spin bowler Shane Warne was banned for a year after testing positive for a banned diuretic before this year's tournament in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya. But the ICC said 100 random samples obtained during the competition by the South African Institute for Drug Free Sport (SAIDFS) had all returned negative results after being tested in an International Olympic Committee-accredited laboratory. It was the first time there had been an anti-doping programme at the World Cup. There were tests at every second phase, or Super Six, match as well as the semi- finals and the final. Four of the ICC's full members - Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa - have long-standing doping policies and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also recently introduced its own policy.
