Mumbai: Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar on Thursday deposed before a five-member disciplinary committee of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in response to a complaint filed by him against his Chartered Accountant Madhav Bhatkhande over a financial dispute. Early on Thursday, Sachin's brother Ajit went to the institute to represent the cricketer as he was reportedly handling his accounts. Later, Sachin and his wife Anjali arrived at the institute to substantiate their charges against the chartered accountant. Sachin and his accountant were locked in a legal battle over payment of fees. Bhatkhande's chartered accountancy firm M/s MSB and Co was handling Sachin's accounts since 1989. Bhatkhande borrowed a loan of Rs 26 lakh from the cricketer in 1996. Later, his firm served on Sachin a bill of Rs 42 lakh as fees for handling his accounts. The cricketer disputed the fees saying it was on a higher side and asked back his loan amount. Tendulkar refused to pay the balance amount of Rs 16 lakh due to his accountant. Being aggrieved, Bhatkhande dragged Tendulkar to Mumbai High Court and the cricketer in turn filed a counter complaint with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India based in Cuffe Parade in South Mumbai here. The disciplinary committee would give its ruling after hearing Tendulkar.
