Jaipur: Even though the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released more than Rs 12 crore in pending match fees for the Indian cricketers, there are no signs of the much-awaited graded payment system being implemented in the near future. The graded payment system, which envisages match fees for players on the basis of seniority, has been accepted in principle by the BCCI, but kept in abeyance for a more detailed study. Top sources in the Board, however, said the system was unlikely to be implemented until the newly formed players' association was recognised by the BCCI. The sources said as of now the association consisted of just a "handful of players" and the BCCI would talk only to a truly representative players' body on this issue. They also urged the senior players to suggest an appropriate formula for the system. Meanwhile, Board treasurer Kishore Rungta said cheques amounting to more than Rs 12 crore had already been dispatched to the 27 cricketers for their pending match fees. The players have been given money for the four tours -- England, ICC Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka, West Indies and New Zealand -- undertaken by the team during last year. Among the 27 recipients, Rahul Dravid is the biggest earner with Rs 92.81 lakh followed by Virender Sehwag with Rs 92.63 lakh. Captain Saurav Ganguly received Rs 88.21 lakhs, Sachin Tendulkar, who missed a few matches, got a cheque of Rs 73.79 lakh. Rungta said the official sponsors Sahara India were also expected to release the money it owed to the Board following an agreement reached between the two sides a couple of days ago.
