Sachin also bags Ceat World Cup Cricketer 2003
New Delhi: Indian batting star Sachin Tendulkar has bagged the Ceat World Cup Cricketer 2003 award after his splendid performance at the cricket's premier event in South Africa. Tendulkar, who was also adjudged the man-of-the-tournament at 2003 World Cup which was won by Australia, scored a record 673 runs from 11 matches to top the Ceat ratings with 27 points for the tournament. The Mumbai batsman will receive the award at the 8th Ceat International Cricket Ratings Awards ceremony, a media release from Ceat said on Tuesday. Tendulkar is currently ranked sixth overall with 81 points. The little master was in roaring form throughout the World Cup. He scored his highest of the tournament, 152, against Namibia before scoring a savage 98 against Pakistan that truly turned on the Indian team's fortunes. Captain Saurav Ganguly tallied 24 points with his three centuries while the champions' skipper Ricky Ponting and the swashbuckling Adam Gilchrist had 22 points each for the joint third place. Express fast bowler Brett Lee who picked 22 wickets was four points behind the Australian duo. Extras:
