London: Indian paceman Javagal Srinath will play for Durham county in England during April and May, replacing Australian Martin Love. Srinath agreed to join Durham after Love was selected in the Australian squad to tour West Indies in that period, a county spokesperson told. Love is a specialist batsman and scored 1,120 first class runs at an average of 65.88 last season. Initially, team coach Martyn Moxon tried to find a batting replacement but an appropriate person was not available for such a short period, the spokesperson said. A question over the fitness of fast bowler Steve Harmison also forced the county to zero in on Srinath who has clinched 236 Test wickets at an average of 30.9 and 314 wickets in One-day Internationals at 27.86. After being coaxed out of retirement last year when he was playing for Leicestershire, Srinath had a wonderful run. He has so far taken 15 wickets in the World Cup.
