Karachi: Pakistan cricket chiefs on Thursday sacked Waqar Younis as captain after its disastrous World Cup campaign and named wicket-keeper Rashid Latif to replace him. Waqar's sacking was expected after Pakistan, one of the tournament favourite and runner-up to Australia four years ago, failed to advance beyond the first round in South Africa. Middle-order batsman Yousuf Youhanna will be Latif's deputy for the Sharjah Cup One- day tournament from April 1-10 against South Africa and Sri Lanka, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) spokesman Samiul Hasan said. Former Test captain Javed Miandad returns as coach after the South Africa-based Richard Pybus resigned following the World Cup debacle.
