Kochi: Aided by Ranji Trophy player Sreekumar Nair's brilliant 96 (191 b, 8x4, 1x6) Kerala scored 272 for 9 at stumps in its first innings against Tamil Nadu in the South Zone under-25 match at Kochi Refineries Ground on the opening day on Thursday. In another match at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, batting first after winning the toss, Karnataka was all out for 225 in its first innings against Andhra. In reply, Andhra had made 10 for one at close of play. For Karnataka C Raghu scored 79 with the help of five hits to the fence, Barrington Rowland 37 and N C Ayyappa 36 while for Andhra Vikram Varma captured 3 for 52 and Mohammed Faiq 3 for 89. In the other match at St Paul college grounds, Kalamassery, Goa scored 251 in its first innings before being all out in 79.5 overs against Hyderabad. For Goa, S B Yadav made a fighting 51 consisting eight boundaries while Hyderabad's Indra Sekhar Reddy captured 5 for 75. In reply, Hyderabad had made 26 without losing any wickets when stumps were drawn for the day.
