Katich's spell gives NSW upper hand against Victoria
Melbourne: Part-time wrist spinner Simon Katich gave New South Wales (NSW) the upper hand on day three of the Sheffield Shield match against Victoria at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Friday. Katich (six for 74) took all six wickets to fall as Victoria slumped from 312 for one to be 375 for six at stumps, chasing the Blues' imposing first innings total of 544 for eight declared. Standing between NSW and first innings points on Saturday's final day was Victorian opener Matthew Mott. Playing his first first-class match of the season, Mott batted all day to be unbeaten on 181 at stumps. Wicket-keeper Peter Roach was on 21. Mott put on 223 for the first wicket with Jason Arnberger (105). But after Arnberger and Graeme Rummans (32) were dismissed, Katich ran through the brittle Victorian middle order.
