Bangalore: England scored a pulsating one-run win over India in a World Series of Women's cricket match at Lincoln, New Zealand on Thursday. Chasing 209 runs for a victory, India faltered to be all out for 207 with Jhulan Goswami being bowled off the last ball.Indian skipper Anjum Chopra won the toss and sent England in to bat. Riding on the fine unbeaten 79 of C J Edwards, England posted a challenging 208 for four in its allotted 50 overs.England was off to a sedate start with openers S V Collyer and K M Leng adding 66 runs for the first wicket off 18.1 overs. Edwards then took control of the innings, while Neetu David did a splendid restricting job for India by conceding just 20 runs off her 10 overs.Mithali Raj was once again the corner stone of the Indian batting and her unfortunate run out on 98 with just eight runs needed for victory set the panic button in the Indian lower half. Mithali held the Indian innings together with a 92-run fifth wicket partnership with Hemalatha Kala. Mithali, whose innings came off 126 balls and included 12 hits to the fence, was the seventh Indian batsman to fall at the score of 201 in the 48th over. India then lost the remaining three wickets for the addition of seven runs.
