Chennai: The MAC Spin Foundation's goal to produce spinners of the calibre of the famous quartet has begun its campaign in right earnest and six of them have as a first step, represented their states in the Ranji Trophy. Giving a complete analysis of the programme at the MAC Foundation, India's greatest off spinner, Erappaly Prasanna, flanked by Abhiram Bhat, L Sivaramakrishan and Robin Singh, former Indian cricketers, told reporters "I am sure the foundation will restore the memories of the 70's and 80's when spinners were ruling the roost and involved in India's every win." As for the MAC foundation, Prasanna said, "This the first and only foundation in the country that does not allow the trainees to pay for anything. The Tamil Nadu boys (15 now) get their educational and boarding and lodging expenses met by the foundation. As for the 15 outstation boys, they are even paid the train fare besides meeting all other expenses," he said. As for the performance of the boys, he said he was most impressed. "The boys were from 14 to 19 age group and we could expect them to play for the country in about two years time," he said.
