Hyderabad: A brilliant century by Daniel Manohar and his 103-run third wicket partnership with A T Rayudu (62) enabled hosts score 282 for 7 against Railways on the opening day of the four-day Ranji Trophy match at Gymkhana grounds on Saturday. Openers Nandakishore and Daniel Manohar gave a flying start after the hosts were put in to bat, making 76 runs before Railway speedster Harvinder Singh dismissed Nandakishore for 21 with Murali Karthik taking a neat catch. Local lad Rayudu joined Daniel and the duo batted sensibly after VVS Laxman was dismissed for a naught. They were severe on spinner Murali and K Parida, scoring with elegance on either side of the fence. Speedster Harvinder dismissed Daniel as he edged to wicket-keeper Abhay Sharma for 107 with two sixes and 14 fours in a space of 183 balls during his 268-minute stay in the middle. Rayudu perished soon with Murali Kartik spinning a magic web for 62 runs compiled in 73 balls with one six and eleven fours. Murali also accounted for Arjun Yadav (0) and Ibrahim Khaleel (24) when play was stopped with 6.1 overs to go due to water logging in the outfield. Shivaji Yadav on 21 and Venkatapathi Raju on 15 were at crease when the play was called off. For Railways, Harvinder Singh claimed three wickets for 64 runs while Murali took 3 for 72.
