Brisbane: Makeshift Queensland opener Clinton Perren and paceman Joe Dawes hauled Queensland back into the Sheffield Shield game against South Australia on Monday. Perren posted a century minutes before stumps, while Dawes earlier claimed career- best figures of 7 for 67. At stumps on the second day of a game scheduled for four days, Queensland was 211 for three in its second innings, a lead of 132. Perren was unbeaten with 104 and Stuart Law emerged from a poor run with a well- compiled 72. Dawes destroyed the South Australian first innings after the visitors began the day comfortably placed with 136 for two. South Australia finally limped to 208 with the help of Shane Deitz (56 not out) as Dawes charged to his second consecutive five-wicket haul.
