Tasmania in strong position to beat Victoria outright
Hobart: Tasmania was well placed to secure an outright victory over Victoria after the third day of the Sheffield Shield clash on Friday. Going to stumps with 82 for four wickets in its second innings, Victoria still needs another 261 runs on the final day Saturday. Jon Moss (nine) and Ian Harvey (five) will carry Victoria's hopes of completing its first Shield success in Hobart for 17 years. Starting the day with 268 for three in its second innings, Tasmania forged 396 all out. Scott Mason, resuming on 168, added only six before being dismissed. He was at the crease for 394 minutes, hitting 24 fours and a six. Victorian wicket-keeper Darren Berry finished with nine catches for the match.
